The Do’s and Don’ts of Roofing

Most people don’t spend a lot of time on their roof. You would probably prefer to not have to spend a lot of time thinking about your roof – it’s much nicer to just be able to trust it is doing the job you need it to do.  However, it is not wise to ignore your roof and just hope for the best. In order to make sure your roof stays in good condition, there are critical things you need to keep in mind.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Roofing

  • Do regular roofing inspections- You should always know the current condition of your roofing to be sure it is performing as it should. It only takes one damaged area to end up with water damage and mold. Inspect after every storm and at least once a year. As your roofing nears the end of its life, consider a roof inspection twice a year.
  • Do think long term when replacing your roofing- There is often very little difference between a roofing material rated for 10-15 years and one rated for twice that. If you are offered an extended warranty, take it! It is always better to pay a bit extra for high-quality roofing materials than it is to have it replaced twice during the same period. You’ll save in the long-run if you can extend the life of your current roof.
  • Don’t wait too long to replace your roofing- Knowing your roof is on borrowed time can make you quite nervous. The world is full of enough stress without putting yourself through that. You deserve a sound and secure roof over your head so you can enjoy a good night’s rest.
